Degem’s Tech Prep TP-3000 laboratory provides a hands-on introduction of modern technology
to students in middle & high schools and technical colleges. The aim of the Tech Prep family
of training systems is to expose the student to the scientific and technological aspects of the
human environment. It should also enhance initiative and creativity, helping students use these
traits to plan their path toward definite goals on the basis of his or her knowledge and special
acquired skills, while keeping their future career in mind.


The laboratory consists of a number of student workstations, which contain a didactic hardware
console with built-in power supply and a computer interface, all the required accessories
and a personal computer. The courseware consists of theory, detailed experiment procedure,
simulations and guided observations provide the ideal learning environment. The software that
runs on the student computer emulates virtual instrumentation for convenient measurements
without the added cost of additional equipment. An instructor guide for each training system
assists the instructor to guide the students through the various practical exercises.


The unique integration of specially developed training hardware with courseware and student
programming software provides an enhanced learning environment that allows students to
achieve greater comprehension and higher competency in less time than with conventional
training methods.

Basic Mechanics Training System

This course introduces the students to the basics of mechanics and to the fundamental
physical laws which are the basis of all mechanical technology. The students are exposed,
by courseware and experimentation, to the physical rules which interrelate between forces
and between force and both linear and rotational motion. Also demonstrated are power
transmission and conversion of linear to rotational motion and of rotational to linear motion.

Hydraulics is the engineering field which deals with the creation and transfer of mechanical
power in pressurized liquids.

In this course, the students are exposed to various aspects of hydraulics. The course provides the students with an understanding and awareness of uses and applications of hydraulics in the world surrounding him. These include aircraft landing gear, hydraulic lifts, braking systems, etc. The students will gain an understanding of the physical and scientific aspects of hydraulics and their relationship with various commonly found technological applications.


Elementary hydraulic components are introduced and exercised. Industrial applications are
demonstrated and explained.

CNC Lathe Machine Training System

Lathing is the process of applying a machine to cut and shape objects out of raw materials.

The raw materials are, in many cases, wood, metal or plastic.
This course introduces the students to the CNC lathe. The students are exposed to industrial
processes and control. The objectives of the course include teaching the students how to operate
the lathe, and how to apply the program instructions in a logical sequence to produce a product.
Students also learn about algebraic coordinate systems and their application in technology,
the advantages of simulation, the need and the exercising of safety precautions in work. The

The objective of this course is to teach the students the application of the manipulator arm
principles, the technologies that are employed by this type of arm, its applications in industry
